College Hockey Update:  In Saturday’s game in Worcester, MA., Boston College played in control for almost all of the game.

Teddy Doherty put BC up 1-0 with six minutes remaining in the first period, and that’s how the first ended.  And it was Teddy Doherty who scored again, three minutes into the second period, to put BC up by a 2-0 margin.  UMD had outshot BC in the first period by a 10-8 margin, but BC’s pace in the second gave them a much greater advantage in shots, 16-10.

In the third it was Ryan Fitzgerald who scored for BC to make it 3-0, seven minutes into the period.  With their backs against the wall, Minnesota-Duluth put up a formidable charge, and with seven minutes remaining in the game, Austin Farley scored to cut the lead to 3-1.  And with four minutes remaining, it was Karson Kuhlman who scored for Minnesota-Duluth to cut the lead to the slimmest of margins at 3-2.  The two teams were even in shots in the third at ten apiece, and BC held Duluth off to the final buzzer and took the 3-2 win.  This game is not an upset in our pool, as 26 entries picked BC to win this game.  BC advanced to the Frozen Four on Thursday, April 7th in Tampa, and will face the winner of tomorrow’s Quinnipiac/UMass-Lowell game in Albany, NY.

That’s all for now.  Stay tuned, and go Terriers!
