Last weekend some teams worked to reestablish themselves, and there is no better case than Miami of Ohio. The # 2 Red Hawks swept Ferris State, knocking them down from # 6 to # 4. # 3 Wisconsin split the weekend with Colorado College, and the split moved the Tigers up from # 8 to # 7. Minnesota Duluth swept Mankato, and has jumped from # 10 all the way to # 4. Wow! And Cornell managed to hold on to the # 9 ranking after beating Clarkson, and then hanging on to a tie with St. Lawrence. The Saints have played the last eight games winning every other game; could they be a team poised to make a move here in crunch time of conference play?
This weekend there are some great top ten matchups. For starters, # 1 Denver will travel to play two games at # 3 Wisconsin. Should be brutal, and I know we all wish we could be there. Then we have an out of conference beauty, as # 5 North Dakota will travel to play two games at # 9 Cornell. And I suspect it may not be too long before we see the current # 11 team, Boston College, in the top ten. While they were beaten at Fenway two weekends back by their rival BU, this weekend they get BU at home for a game. Doesn’t look as though BC really liked that loss at Fenway, as last weekend they crushed Providence 4-1, and then destroyed Maine 6-1. They are probably out for a little revenge on their home ice against BU. Could be rather tough for the amazingly struggling Terriers.
