There was so little going on in college hockey last weekend that as I write this, I don’t even know what title to put on it. Last weekend there were only two of the top fifteen teams active, but they provided great matchups. First, #8 Nebraska-Omaha split a weekend series with #20 Colorado College; after getting thumped by CC 5-2, UNO came back to shut out CC 3-0. In the next matchup, #13 Union College suffered two losses at the hands of #25 Western Michigan, 2-1, and 3-1. And that’s it for your top fiteen news from last weekend!
This weekend there are no games scheduled, and next week there are the variety of tournaments starting on Wednesday the 29th. There are some great matchups next week/weekend. On Wednesday/Thursday, the Florida Classic starts with #6 Miami-Ohio facing #9 Maine, and they play into the winner and loser of the St. Cloud State vs. Cornell matchup. Also on the Wednesday/Thursday schedule, the Great Lakes tournament pits #20 Colorado College against Michigan State, with the winner/loser facing the winner/loser of the #11 Michigan vs. Michigan Tech matchup.
Thursday there is a real barn burner as #3 North Dakota will travel to play #4 Minnesota-Duluth in the brand new Amsoil arena. The new arena seats 6,700, and was an $80 million building effort. This should be a heck of a contest, as UMD should be out to rebound from the rough weekend they had against Minnesota on the 10th/12th, (loss and tie), and one might imagine that the Bulldogs are determined to christen their new home with a win.
Next Friday, New Year’s Eve, and Saturday, New Year’s Day, the Dodge Classic will be played in Minneapolis at the Mariucci Arena. The opening matchups are #12 Union College vs. #19 Minnesota, and #18 Ferris State vs. Bemidji State, winners/loser facing each other on Saturday. And next Saturday/Sunday, the Shilellagh Tournament will open with #10 Boston University vs. Brown, and #12 Notre Dame vs. #28 Mankato, winners/losers facing off on Sunday.
This provides the top fifteen teams (last poll conducted 12/13, so the rankings/information is a repeat of last week’s), rankings, records, and last weekend’s results:

That’s all for now. Stay tuned, and go Terriers!
Merry Christmas to you and your families.
