Pool Deadline Extended to 3/25 9am PT

Yale senior goalie Ryan Rondeau, of Carvel, Alberta, denied all 22 attempts by Cornell in last Saturday night's ECAC Championship game, winning 6-0 on goals by five different players. Junior Forward Kevin Limbert, of Fruitvale, BC, scored the first two goals. With Saturday night's shutout, Rondeau became the first Yale goalie to ever record three consecutive shutout performances. Yale will face the United States Air Force Academy in first round play of the NCAA tournament. Air Force gave Yale one of its only six losses of the season (St. Lawrence gave Yale two losses, and Yale's only home loss). As we know, anything can happen in the NCAA tournament, even for teams such as Air Force — wasn't it the supposedly high-flying Michigan team three or four years ago that was taken down by Air Force in the first round? There is some cynical speculation that Michigan threw the CCHA tournament this year out of fear of being ranked so highly at season end that they might get paired with Air Force again in the first round. Sounds a bit outlandish, but you never know for sure.

Yes, that’s right, the pool deadline has been extended to 9am Pacific Time on Friday, March 25th.

So, time is  running  out to submit your picks for this year’s pool.

With the deadline extended to Friday morning, March 25, at 9:00am Pacific Time, we will more than likely accept submissions up to about 11:00am on Friday morning.

If you can’t find your bracket, check your email inbox.

Brackets were emailed out on Tuesday night, March 22, 2011, between 10:20PM and 10:30PM, Pacific Time.

Remember:

It costs nothing to play, and the winner gets a prize.

Also, send me your picks in a string of winners names in game  number order as indicated under the line where you would write the game winner.

An example of  this is given below the bracket that was sent to you.

Since BU is not in the tournament (wasn’t even close), and Miami of Ohio has not won an NCCA Championship in Ice Hockey, in the memory of Frank Mattson, I’ve selected Miami to win the tournament this year.

So I will for the duration of the tournament be signing off as:

That’s all for now.  Stay tuned, and go RedHawks!
