Ferris State Squeaks By Colgate

Ferris State freshman forward Gerald Mayhew, of Wyandotte, MI, scored this first period power play goal go give #6 Ferris State the first round win over #12 Colgate

#6 Ferris State scored  a power play goal midway through the first period in opening round action in Cincinnati, and that was all it took as they beat #12 Colgate 1-0.  Ferris State advanced to play tomorrow, Saturday the 29th at 3:30pm Pacific Time on ESPNU, against the winner of tonight’s game between #4 Wisconsin and #13 North Dakota.  Today’s game was a case of Colgate speed against the physical style of play employed by Ferris State, but Colgate did itself no favors with mistakes that cost penalty time and left the team shorthanded on the ice.

This outcome is not an upset as 2/3 of our entries (26 of 39) picked Ferris State in this game.

NOTE ON UNION/VERMONT GAME:  The Union win was also not an upset, as 37 of 39 entries selected Union to win today’s game against Vermont.

That’s all for now.  Stay tuned, and go Terriers!
