College Hockey Update:  Providence and Denver played nearly two full periods evenly, tightly, and heavily contesting each other; something had to give, and it did, when Noel Acciari scored for Providence to give them a 1-0 lead, with about six minutes left in the second, which is how the frame ended.

The third was a bit more lively.  After about eight minutes of play, Denver senior defenseman Joey LeLeggia scored to tie it at 1-1, which is where it stood for another seven minutes.  Then with about five minutes to go, Providence’s Tom Parisi scored to put Providence up, 2-1.  With time running out, Denver added an extra attacker and pulled their goalie.  With about a minute and a half left, Providence’s Brandon Tanev scored an empty netter to make it 3-1, and with about a minute left, Providence’s Kevin Rooney scored to make the final 4-1.

Providence advances to the Frozen Four in Boston on Thursday, April 9th, for the first time since 1985.  Eleven days off . . . .

This outcome would be a pretty serious upset in our pool, as only two entries out of forty-four picked Providence to make it to the Frozen Four.  For that matter, only six had actually chosen Denver to make it that far either . . . .

That’s all for now.  Stay tuned, and go Terriers!
