Not Ferris State’s Day Off

Ferris State and Denver fought through a scoreless first period today in the opening game of the Midwest Regional in Green Bay, WI., but Ferris State’s Jordie Johnston scored the lone second period goal to put Ferris State up, 1-0.  Early in the third period, Ferris State’s freshman defenseman Simon Denis, of Burnaby, B.C. (pictured at left), scored to put the Bulldogs up 2-0 over the Pioneers.  Just a few minutes later, Denver’s Drew Shore struck for the Pioneers to make it 2-1.  But the Bulldogs held Denver off for the remainder of the quarter, to win it 2-1.

Denver advances to the Midwest Regional Final against the winner of tonight’s Michigan/Cornell game, which will get underway shortly.

This game was a minor upset in our pool, as 17 out of 31 had picked Denver as the winner.

That’s all for now.  Stay tuned, and go Terriers!
