Denver Pounces On Michigan Tech
There’s no other way to put it, Denver really pounced on Michigan Tech in the opening game of the Midwest Region in Cincinnati, OH, today. In the first period, two goals by Colin Staub, a goal by Emil Romig, and a goal by Will Butcher, all unanswered, put Denver up 4-0 going into the second. A second period goal by Tyson McClellan made it 5-0 Denver, and the game was only 26 minutes old. Two late second period Michigan Tech goals closed the lead to 5-2. In the third there was very little action by either Denver or Michigan Tech, with a total of only eleven shots in the period, and Denver cruised to its 5-2 win. Denver advanced to play the winner of today’s late game between Union College and Pennsylvania State University, tomorrow at 3:00PM Pacific Time on ESPNU.
The outcome of this game is not remotely an upset, as 44 of 46 participants picked Denver to win while only two picked Michigan Tech.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned, and go Terriers!
