College Hockey Update:  Yesterday in the early game of the Northeastern Region in Worcester, MA., Cornell and Boston University played a very even and scoreless first period, and play continued that way into the second as well.  Trevor Yates scored seven minutes into the second to give Cornell a 1-0 lead, and 36 seconds later, Shane Bowers responded with a goal to tie it at one apiece, where it stood through the end of the second.  Cornell had put up great defense, and in the third had the puck behind the net in their zone, ready to move it out and up ice.  On the pass out, Brady Tkachuck broke out from two Cornell players and reached for the puck, grabbing it and then circling the zone, passed out to the point from behind the net to David Farrance, who wristed a shot in to give BU the 2-1 lead.  Cornell controlled most of the tempo in the third, out shooting BU 9-4, but BU managed to hold them off.  Cornell added an extra attacker and at one point Logan Cockerill found the empty net with only 17 seconds left to make the final score 3-1, BU.  Boston University advanced to play in the final Northeast Region game today against Michigan, and that game is underway now and Michigan has a 3-2 lead at the end of the second.  You can watch that game now on ESPN2.

The outcome of this game is an upset in our pool as 29 participants out of 50 picked Cornell to win, and only 21 picked BU.

That’s all for now.  Stay tuned, and go Terriers!
